Surreal Objects, Three-Dimensional Works From Dali To Man Ray Posted: 20 May 2011 06:48 PM PDT Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt will held the first, wide-ranging exhibition to focus exclusively on the Surrealists' three-dimensional works – about 150 of them in all. From today's perspective, many of them seem surprisingly fresh and contemporary, not historical artifacts at all. The selection presents artists of the surrealist period from 1925–1945, including familiar names such as Duchamp, Magritte, Dalí, Picasso and Miró, but also many other artists whose striking works are still to be discovered by the general public. Surrealist works feature the element of surprise, unexpected juxtapositions and non sequitur; however, many Surrealist artists and writers regard their work as an expression of the philosophical movement first and foremost, with the works being an artifact. Don't forget to mark your calendar from 11th Feb to 29th May 2011. via Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt |
Posted: 20 May 2011 08:54 AM PDT Bell & Ross has unveiled two new diver watches, the BR02 Phantom & BR02 Steel that will be release in August 2011. While the two models have 44mm steel cases with decompression valves and are powered by self winding Swiss automatic mechanical ETA 2892 movements with 1000 metre water resistance, the differences lie in the finishes touch. The BR02 Phantom has a stealthy black SuperLuminova applied hands and markers on a black 'Clous De Paris' dial and the BR02 Steel version comes with a carbon fibre dial. via Bell & Ross |
Stripes Chocolate Bar by Mary & Matt Posted: 20 May 2011 08:26 AM PDT Mary & Matt (Chocolate Editions) latest Stripes chocolate creation was inspired by Sol Lewitt's wall drawing #419. Art or food? You decide! Affordable art at 5 bucks! Chocolate Editions is a collaboration between designer and pastry maker Mary Matson & ads director Matt Even. With a love for design, food and the culinary arts, the duo combined their skills into making chocolates that they felt were missing in their life. Launched in their home kitchen as gifts for friends and family, it quickly grew into a full line that draws its inspiration from an eclectic array of favorites -- rugby shirts, works by Sol LeWitt and David Hockney, and Neapolitan ice cream have all been reimagined as deliciously artful candies. |
IRIS Furniture by Lubo Majer for Dizajno Posted: 18 Feb 2011 07:56 AM PST Taking inspiration from the colorful rainbow, Slovak designer Lubo Majer created the IRIS furniture set for manufacturer Dizajno. The furniture not just replicates the rainbow colours but also the design. The multi-colored foams are attached together to form chair and broader sofa designs. The bright shades and colorful Iris will definitely brighten up your day! via Dizajno |
