A granddaughter in India decides to surprise her grandfather on his birthday by reuniting him with his childhood friend (who is now in Pakistan) after over 6 decades of separation, with a little help from Google Search.

Pawel Kuczynski’s Artful depiction of the present world

Pawel Kuczynski is a Polish artist born in 1976 and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan. Accordion to the artists page, he has so far achieved 102 awards and recognitions for this works. I recently came across his work and I had to share it here. The work is brilliant, it is simple in what it wants to say and it is like a slap on our faces. Everything depicted in his drawing is true to the core and we are guilty of wrong doing in one way or the other. My personal piece of art is the first image where a child is playing with his blocks and the other child is taking the image in the block literally, probably the author wanted us to imply that the second child was hungry and could not resist a bite out of the image of an apple, quite sad when you think about the millions of children who probably stare at food, photographs of food because of hunger.

Relativity by Alex Hall - The latest works by Alex Hall is nothing short of sublime. Some of the original artworks are available for purchase. Working with oil paint on panels, the artist Alex Hall combines surrealism and figuration to create beautifully rendered, contemporary works. He draws inspiration from his own life encounters and the everyday struggles with which so many people can relate. His new series 'Relativity' depicts individuals floating in time and space. He chose to paint the figures with no distinct faces so they would relate to every man and every woman.

This particular series is a very honest representation of where he is currently in his own life. Having recently graduated college and being thrown off his feet into the real world, he was extremely overwhelmed. 'I began to realize that most people are familiar with this feeling of uncertainty. With that idea, I sought out to create a series that was a visual representation of an emotion that has been universally felt by all people: A sense of uncertainty, and ultimately struggling to achieve a balance in life.'

Historic Photographs Colored from Black and White is a collection of photographs that have been professionally converted to color to bring them to life. It is always fascinating to find a collection of Black & White photos that have a historical prominence. For some reason, I always found the black and white photos to be out of context, although they are brilliant references to our history, they still portrayed a lack of energy. Two artists in particular Dana Keller and Sanna Dullaway , have spent many hours colourizing some fascinating black and white portraits from the past and the results can be seen here.
